Goro Tachibana
Born on the streets of low-tier Rukongai, Goro joined a gang at a young age. When he was old enough to help run it, the gang framed him and Shinigami arrested him. When they heard him begging for food from his cell, they checked him over, and made him choose between death or servitude. He chose servitude and became a Shinigami. Using the power his new position provided he made sure his patrol route took him by his old haunts, and killed the gang that sold him out. He was arrested a second time, not for killing Rukongai citizens, but for unleashing a Shikai in Rukongai. He had his rank removed, his accolades stripped, and was transferred to the 11th Division. He hates the 11th Division.
Goro has an inferiority complex and hates being looked down on or otherwise belittled, besides that he tries his very best to be the model Shinigami, though he can sometimes get carried away with his arrogance and that's when he starts butting heads with people. Despite his incarceration and punishments, or perhaps because of them, he's grateful to Seireitei for lifting him out of the mud and wants to repay the favor, he's drank their koolaid real deep.
He's an easy antagonist and a difficult ally, though my hope is to eventually start pushing him over his distrustful hump and make him some friends, or at least get him to know people that won't immediately hate having him around. After that, I hope to unravel the indoctrination of Seireitei and make him question his superiors, himself, his allies. After that the plan is to somehow put him in a situation where he has no choice but to be at odds with Seireitei and now his world is in disarray, but that won't be until he's a little stronger and more ingrained in Soul Society's heirarchy.
So, if you need somebody to fight, want your character to climb an incline to befriend him, or have some other idea or use for my boy let me know~
Bertolt Blau
Centuries ago Bertolt was a rich mining baron, he flaunted his inherited wealth to the brink of banruptcy, even going so far as to just give money away. This earned him a reputation as a good samaritan and psuedo-leader of the community, a trust he abused. Despite being married with children, Bertolt threw wild parties at his estate and had many concubines, threatening and abusing silence from his family. One such concubine loved Bertolt dearly, and on the cusp of the medieval witch trials that swept the globe she confided her magical abilities in him hoping he would protect her.
For a time he did, until the mobs discovered where she was hiding and gathered at his door. To save his own skin Bertolt grabbed the smallest of his children and ran out, half-naked, proclaiming the concubine an evil succubus that had bewitched him. Furious with his betrayal she engulfed his home in flames and cursed him. His visage shifted into that of the devil and the witch doomed him to an eternal life of solitude, trapping him in the mansion he loved so dearly. It's unclear why, perhaps as a result of the fight between the witch and the townsfolk, but the mountain looming over the mansion collapsed upon it.
Now, four hundred years later, Bertolts story is a legend in the spiritual world. Tales of a devil trapped in a pristine mansion untouched by time, buried beneath the earth.
